The whole creation being the gross projection of Brahman, the Cosmic Consciousness itself;
the food too is Brahman, the process of offering it is Brahman; it is being offered in the
fire of Brahman.
In an Ashram, simplicity permeates every aspect of life, including food, accommodation, daily
routines, community interactions, and spiritual practices. Sattvic food is central to the Ashram's
diet, emphasizing purity, freshness, and nourishment. Meals are prepared with care and gratitude,
using natural ingredients sourced locally or from the Ashram's own garden.
Accommodation in the Ashram is modest and reflective of the principle of simplicity. Residents
typically have simple rooms furnished with only the essentials, fostering a sense of minimalism and
contentment. Cleanliness and tranquility prevail, creating a conducive environment for reflection
and inner exploration.
Life in the Ashram revolves around a structured yet serene routine, guided by principles of
discipline and mindfulness. Daily activities include meditation, yoga, self-study, and service
(Seva) to the community. Silence is often observed during meals, allowing residents to savor their
food mindfully and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and the present moment.
The Ashram's library is a treasure trove of wisdom, featuring a diverse collection of spiritual
texts, philosophical teachings, and literature from various traditions. Residents are encouraged to
spend time in the library, engaging in self-study and reflection to deepen their understanding and
practice.
A meditation hall serves as the heart of the Ashram, providing a sacred space for individuals to
come together and cultivate inner peace and stillness. Regular group meditation sessions and
spiritual gatherings foster a sense of unity and shared purpose among the community members.
Outside the meditation hall, a generous garden flourishes with a variety of fruits, vegetables,
herbs, and flowers. Residents participate in tending to the garden, cultivating a sense of
connection to the earth and the cycles of nature. The garden also serves as a reminder of the
abundance and beauty inherent in a life of simplicity and harmony with the natural world.
In essence, life in an Ashram is a holistic journey of self-discovery, inner transformation, and
spiritual growth, guided by the principles of simplicity, mindfulness, and community living. Through
the practice of Sattvic food, meditation, and service, residents cultivate a deeper connection with
themselves, others, and the divine, fostering a sense of peace, purpose, and fulfillment in their
lives.
