During the classes or within the premises and when you are out in Rishikesh please ware clothes that cover your knees and shoulders, This might be different from your home country, but it is important to be respectful of Indian culture when you visit us. In the Yogshala, it is fine to wear a tank top, but please cover your belly. (NO SPORTS BRA)

Yes, it's better to bring your yoga mat. In case you forget or misplace it you can buy it from the market nearby.

No, the course is too intense for pregnant women to complete.

You'll have some breaks during your daily schedule. Wednesday will be a half day where after lunch there will be no class and Sunday is a free day as there are no classes, so you'll have more time to explore.

We want you to attend every class as it's important for you, so you don't get left behind. In case of an emergency, yes you can skip the class but you'll have to inform the teacher about it before the class.

Yes, it is possible to attend the TTC with your partner. I never did yoga. Will it be too advanced for me to attend the TTC? The YTTC is suitable for everyone; we prepare separate batches according to the course you applied for, as we are committed to teaching you from the very root of yoga thru all aspects, so the experience is not necessary.

All teachers in Atharvyogshala are highly qualified and certified registered form the organizing authorities, with years of experience in practicing yoga. Will language be my barrier as English is not my first language? Absolutely no, all students are coming from different parts of the world, so English is likely the second language they spoke. The courses are very easy to understand and the teachers will help you with everything.

Yes, there are a few books that you'll have to read during your course. is it your choice to start before your arrival or once you are at the school?

One should arrive one day before the course start. On the Second day at 9:00 am, the Course will start with a yoga ritual. On the last day of the course, the graduation ceremony will take place and it finishes by 01:00 pm, therefore, departure should be planned on the last day of the course.

To become a certified yoga teacher, you must complete a yoga teacher training course and show competence in your ability to teach a yoga class. Yes, Atharvyogshala is a registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance (USA) for providing internationally recognized yoga teacher training certifications in India. All our yoga teacher training graduates can register themselves online at the Atharvyogshala. Do I need to pass any exams to complete the course?
Yes, you'll have to pass a written and a verbal test. All the mandatory decisions will be based on your performance, attendance and behavior.

The most closest and convenient way to reach AtharvYogshala is through Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun from where it's a 30 to 40 min drive to reach us or you can take a flight to Delhi International Airport.

If you are traveling for the first time the best way to travel to Rishikesh is to take a flight from Delhi airport to Jolly Grant airport Dehradun as it’s less expensive and time-saving. As soon as you book your flight, forward your flight details and we will arrange a taxi to receive you from Dehradun airport. Otherwise, if you need a pickup from Delhi airport to Rishikesh, we will also arrange that with an additional cost of 75 USD.

Yes, it is safe to travel alone to Rishikesh, many tourists do it. We recommend you to share your traveling in detail with us before your arrival so that we can guide you better.

Yes, with advanced notice we will arrange transportation for you to Atharv Yogshala directly from the airport, bus, or train station. In case you are pre-arrived in Rishikesh we will help you with directions.

Food served at our Yogshala is 100% vegetarian, not vegan. If you have a special diet or any kind of health issue then you need to inform us before your arrival so our chef can prepare food for you.

There is a pure filtered water facility available for students 24/7, free of charge. Can we use phones at school?
Yes, you are free to use your cell phones when you are not at your classes.

Yes, we have Indians no one hospital in Rishikesh (AIIMS) as it might be not the same brand, but with the same salt.

If you are sick, injured, or in need of medical assistance, we will provide you with medical care or take you to the best hospital (AIIMS, NIRMAL, JOLLY GRANT). We do not cover your medical bills. That is why we highly recommend that you get travel insurance.

In Rishikesh, there is a very low risk of one's having malaria. So you shouldn't worry about taking any vaccination, if you want you can bring mosquito repellents, lotions, etc

Eating outside in Rishikesh is pretty safe though you should beware of eating street food unless your stomach is sensitive. at the same time advise you not to eat outside during the course because what you eat during the course is scheduled as per your classes and daily routine.

FAQs – Payment

In case of any personal issues, we can delay the dates of your course. The advance of the course fees are non-refundable, in the case of an emergency, students can join us on other schedules.

We accept online and credit card payments for booking amounts. The remaining fees can be paid either in cash or by bank transfer. If you opt to pay your remaining fees by credit card then an additional 1.75% will be charged as a transaction fee. You can also use your ATM debit cards (Master/Visa/Electron) to withdraw cash from ATMs in Rishikesh.

You don't need to pay extra money as our course fees include food and accommodation. You'll be provided with a private or shared room as per your application with all the basic amenities like an attached bathroom, 24 hours water supply, water heater, bathing shower, Wardrobe, and other school needs.

In that case, you can happily stay with us. The additional amount of 15 USD per night (which included food) will be charged.

FAQs – Weather

Depending on the season you are joining us:
December-January is the coldest month, the temperature in the day can be 12-20 degrees, and at night it can go down 7-12 degrees, as we do not provide room heaters, so if you are joining the course from December-early till February end we recommend you bring warm clothes.

February and March are not too cold or hot as it's the ending month of winter and the start of summer. So it's good to travel in a normal jacket or windcheater with other clothes. April to July is hot weather - light cotton and breathable clothes are recommended, as the temperature can rise to 40 degrees.

August to September is the rainy season. Still, if you plan to come during these months umbrellas/raincoats are recommended or you can buy them from the local market.

October and November are again the ends of the rainy season and the start of winter cold and woollen clothes, jackets, etc. are recommended.
If you are joining us for the Himalayan retreat then we recommend you bring some warmer pants (so not only leggings) because it can get quite chilly at in the night and mornings. please bring a windproof jacket (windcheater). We will be hiking in the mountains, where the weather can change quickly.

FAQs - General Questions

You should apply for a tourist visa as it is easy and granted by the Indian embassy in a short period, the purpose of visiting India should be yoga retreats or Ayurveda retreats. Students may give our school address as well as a contact number for Indian reference. Contact details for the Indian embassy in your country can be found. In general order, the visa expiry date is counted from the day visa is issued. Please verify it with the concerned embassy. To avoid a last-moment mess try to apply for your visa at least 2 to 3 weeks before your travel date.

Most of the general items you will need during your stay in India can be easily found in the nearby shops or the Rishikesh market. What we suggest you bring is any specialty item that you can't live without, like a specific personal care item or favourite snack from your country.

The post is a distance of 10min as you can visit the head office also which is in Rishikesh. The police station is also next to us. Every night the Patrolling is done to maintain the law and order situation, so the area is well secured, and we have 24/7 security with CCTV cameras.
